Fire damages Mt. Vernon home | News

A home in Mt. Vernon was damaged by fire Monday afternoon.  It happened at 1009 W. 2nd St. around 2 p.m.

Fire officials tell 14 News it started in the kitchen , which sustained smoke and fire damage.  The rest of the home also had damage from the smoke, but crews were able to knock it out quickly.  The home isn’t considered a total loss.

One person was home at the time but no injuries were reported.
